Acupuncture Treatment
Acupuncture is one of the main forms of treatment in traditional Chinese medicine which is widely practiced in the West. It is believed that illness is a result of energy imbalances in the body and by inserting sharp thin needles into the body at specific points an acupuncturist has the ability to change the bodies energy flow into a more regulated pattern.
Here at Physiotherapy Matters we use acupuncture to treat a wide variety of painful illnesses such as:
- sciatica
- arthritis
- frozen shoulder
- back pain
- tennis elbow
- back pain
- sports injuries
- and much more besides.
It is not widely known but acupuncture has proven to be helpful in treating conditions associated with pregnancy such as morning sickness, swelling and back pain and pelvic pain.
As well as painful health problems and pregnancy related illness, acupuncture remarkably is acknowledged as having a positive impact on patients suffering from emotional illnesses such as depression, dementia, anxiety, and insomnia.
One of the main questions asked about acupuncture is ‘Does it hurt?', acupuncture does involve needles, which many people are afraid of, however, acupuncture needles are much thinner than needles used to take blood. Although pain varies from person to person, the majority of recipients of acupuncture don't feel the needles being inserted and are left with a feeling of calm.
