As a rail service provider with depots across the UK, we were challenged on how to better support our workforce impacted by musculoskeletal issues. We needed a proactive, practical approach to employee health that genuinely reduced absence and helped our people manage their conditions more effectively. We had already commenced a series of activities and cultural transformation to target better health support for employees when we introduced the Physiotherapy Matters service. The response from our workforce has been overwhelmingly positive, with high levels of voluntary uptake and consistent feedback that the service is accessible, supportive, and genuinely beneficial. Employees have actively used the scheme not only to address existing MSK concerns but also to improve their overall health, mobility, and confidence at work. During 2025 we achieved a 50.41% reduction in musculoskeletal\u2011related sickness absence, and Physiotherapy Matters have been a key partner in helping us reach this milestone. Their clinicians demonstrate a strong understanding of our industry, provide timely and effective interventions, and work collaboratively with both managers and employees to support safe, sustainable returns to work. The impact has been measurable, meaningful, and long\u2011lasting -both in organisational outcomes and in the day\u2011to\u2011day wellbeing of our people. We would highly recommend their service to any organisation looking to improve workforce health and resilience.<\/p>

Physiotherapy Matters Ltd have provided an off-site physiotherapy service to Northumbria University for several years. I went to PML after being referred through work. Over the weeks the physio has worked wonders for my back. We have used the services of Physiotherapy Matters since 1st January 2009, as part of our integrated occupational health programme.\r\nTheir service enables us to take a proactive approach to the management of employees suffering from musculoskeletal problems. This includes their Practitioners giving advice to employees working in high-risk areas, in order to prevent injury wherever possible. Furthermore, they also facilitate early treatment of problems that have occurred, including those arising from incidents outside of the workplace.<\/p>

Virgin Money have worked with Physiotherapy Matters Ltd since August 2012. Physiotherapy Matters provide an on-site physiotherapy service to us, and also provide us with a referral service into their network of approved physiotherapists nationwide where it would not be suitable for us to bring colleagues to our Newcastle offices for treatment. In addition Physiotherapy Matters also provide us with wellbeing support services such as walk-arounds, colleague talks and classes in our on-site gym.<\/p>
