We offer musculoskeletal NHS services for GPs and Clinical Commissioning Groups. These services
are based in the community and are aimed at offering care closer to home whilst optimising
recovery from a range of musculoskeletal disorders. Our services are evidence-based and delivered
by experienced physiotherapists who are highly trained and supported.

 

For several years Physiotherapy Matters have provided services in Northumberland through Northumberland CCG. Our services are delivered by experienced Physiotherapists who ensure that services deliver value for money whilst maintaining high standards of care.

We offer the following services:

1. Telephone triage and advice service

 

Allows patients to arrange an initial telephone appointment at a convenient time and includes a full history and medical screening. In up to 50% of cases the patient can then be managed over the phone with advice and the provision of self help booklets and an exercise regime which can be posted or emailed. For patient who require a face to face assessment and treatment this is arranged over the phone whilst the patient is given some early self management advice.

2. Educational programs to support GP’s and Nurse Practitioners in managing patients with MSK disorders.

3. Face-to-face Physiotherapy Services

 

Our face to face services include evidence based treatments and our practice is audited against current guidelines relating to musculoskeletal disorders. Clinicians are supported and supervised at regular intervals to ensure our high standards are maintained. Patients are encouraged to take a central role in their own recovery and we place great emphasis on our role in increasing general exercise levels and promoting healthy lifestyle changes.

Clinical excellence

 

Physiotherapy Matters provide regular in-house training and support attendance at courses and conferences to ensure clinicians are delivering evidence-based treatments in line with clinical guidelines.

 

Clinical supervision is conducted at regular intervals and clinical records are audited to ensure compliance with governance standards. Patient reported outcome measures (PROMS) are collected and reported on in-service review meetings. The PROM used is the EQ5D-5L which is a generic quality of life measure used in various NHS settings. Both patient and GP satisfaction measures are taken and reported on which allows us to demonstrate our effectiveness to service commissioners and GP’s.
