Sports Massage and Deep Tissue Massage

February 23, 2015

Sports massage, also known as deep tissue massage or soft tissue manipulation, is a form of hands-on physiotherapy treatment that you certainly don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from. Sports massage is also good for people with injuries, chronic pain or restricted range of motion. The massage therapist generally concentrates on a specific problem area rather than the full body and employs this type of Swedish massage to stimulate circulation of blood and lymph fluids. Overall this massage is aimed at anyone who wants to alleviate pain due to injury and return their body to health. It is often recommended after physiotherapy treatment in the rehabilitation of injuries as it can continue work on the body’s soft tissues, muscles and tendons.

Whether you are taking part in sports or regular exercise and wanting to prevent soft tissue injuries and reduce recovery time should any injury occur, or a worker who suffers from stress/tension e.g. neck, back, shoulder pain/aches, migraines or simply someone feeling tired, sore and stiff, sports massage could be the treatment that you are looking for.
