Neeraj Nayyar

Neeraj is the Founder, Managing Director, Clinical Lead, and Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist at Physiotherapy Matters. Since graduating with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Teesside University in 2001, he has established an outstanding reputation across the North East, combining over 25 years of musculoskeletal and occupational health experience with a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.

Before founding Physiotherapy Matters in 2006, Neeraj held senior clinical roles within the NHS, private healthcare sector, and professional sport, including positions at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, Nuffield Hospital Newcastle, and Newcastle United Football Club Academy. These experiences provided the foundations for a career dedicated to helping people recover from injury, improve function, and achieve their personal and professional goals.

Today, Neeraj leads a multidisciplinary team of clinicians across Physiotherapy Matters, overseeing the clinical, operational, and strategic development of the business. Alongside managing the organisation, he continues to maintain a substantial clinical caseload, providing specialist assessment and treatment for complex musculoskeletal conditions. His expertise includes advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy, occupational health services, injection therapy, extracorporeal shockwave therapy, post-operative rehabilitation, ergonomic assessment, and workplace health management.

Neeraj has extensive experience delivering occupational health physiotherapy services for a wide range of organisations, including Newcastle International Airport, Nexus, Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service, North Tyneside Council, Marelli, and other leading regional employers. His work focuses on reducing workplace absence, supporting employee well-being, improving function, and facilitating safe and sustainable returns to work.

Committed to evidence-based practice and lifelong learning, Neeraj has completed extensive postgraduate training in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (McKenzie Method), Occupational Health, Applied Ergonomics, Acupuncture, Kinetic Control, Spinal Manual Therapy, Musculoskeletal Injection Therapy (Level 7), Diagnostic Ultrasound-Guided Injection Techniques, and Shockwave Therapy. He remains actively engaged in continuing professional development to ensure patients benefit from the latest advances in musculoskeletal healthcare.

Professionally, Neeraj is a Chartered Physiotherapist and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). He is also a member of several specialist professional organisations, including the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE), the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP), Physio First, and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Orthopaedic Medicine and Injection Therapy (ACPOM-IT).

Outside of physiotherapy, Neeraj is passionate about supporting charitable causes and has participated in a variety of fundraising challenges, including a skydive, the Coast-to-Coast cycling challenge, and the Great North Run.
