Due to the current events regarding coronavirus, Physiotherapy Matters are now offering telephone or video triage as an option for assessment and treatment. This can be utilised if you feel you are not able to come into clinic due to feeling unwell, or if you have been told you need to self-isolate. How will this affect the management of my condition?

Telephone triage is often used within physiotherapy services – having an assessment over the phone will not negatively affect the treatment and management of your condition. Evidence suggests that it is an effective form of assessment and management and can help to direct treatment and enable fast signposting to other services if appropriate. Video appointments can be done via skype – this means that your physiotherapist can provide a thorough assessment and go through a home exercise programme with you. If you don’t have skype, don’t worry – our physios can still provide an effective and thorough assessment over the phone. If any home exercises are needed, these can be sent out to you via email or in the post.

Telephone assessments provide fast access to physiotherapy, allowing you to get early advice about your condition and how to manage it without having to come into the clinic if you are feeling unwell. Follow up telephone appointments mean that your physio can support you through your treatment, check your progress and provide ongoing advice and progression to your treatment plan.
