If things aren’t going as planned, don’t stress – with Spring just around the corner, motivation should become easier. Remember, every small step counts, and it’s never too late to get back on track. Celebrate your progress, no matter how small!

In the meantime, we have some interesting topics for you to explore that may inspire you for the upcoming month!

Time to Talk Day

Thursday, February 6th, marks Time to Talk Day, the largest mental health conversation in the nation. This day invites you and everyone in your life to engage in discussions about the significance of mental health. Whether you’re hosting tea and coffee gatherings or taking a walk with someone, it’s an opportunity to connect and share.

By opening up these conversations, we can help break down the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage more people to seek the support they need. It’s important to remember that talking about mental health doesn’t have to be daunting; it can be as simple as checking in with a friend or listening without judgment.

Let’s make a commitment to keep these dialogues going beyond just one day, Together, we can make a difference, one conversation at a time.

Classes and Reviews

Are you interested in joining a small group class this year? Our well-loved Pilates and Golf classes are in full swing—pun intended!

Take a look at some reviews from our members

” I very much enjoy the golf strength and conditioning class, Robert has a lot of knowledge regarding how to become fitter, stronger and more flexible for golf. The class offers an opportunity to safely learn and carry out a variety of exercises to improve your golf. The weekly class has given me the incentive to do similar exercises at home and after several months I have seen a measurable improvement in my golf fitness”

” We are delighted with the benefits we derive from our weekly pilates class. We are very aware of increased flexibility and and extended range of movement. Our instructor, Kristi provides a challenging programme which varies in certain respects each week, so that we never get bored with the activities and we also feel that our physical needs are catered for. She is very supportive and very aware of any physical problems we may have at any given time. Her planning is excellent and caters for the wide range of age and physical abilities in the class. She also has an engaging and pleasant manner and we like her approach to the classes and her style of presentation. The small group size is also of tremendous benefit, allowing room for movement and, even more importantly, allowing the instructor to see and assess our movements and therefore make important adjustments”

A disease is classified as rare when it impacts fewer than 1 in 2,000 people. This day aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by those living with rare diseases, as well as the importance of research and support for finding treatments and cures. Additionally, physiotherapy may also benefit with some conditions. Physiotherapy can help by improving mobility and strengthen joints.

Exercise of the Month

Lunges

This exercise is great to increase balance and co-ordination , while also helping to build lower body strength. If body weight lunges are too easy , try holding a pair of dumbbells to increase intensity.

To perform lunges:

1. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and keep your gaze fixed straight ahead.

2. Step forward and slightly out with one leg, landing with your heel first. Bending your knees to form right angles with both of your legs. Lower your back knee so it just hovers above the floor.

3. Drive off your heel to the starting position and alternate with the other leg.

Fitness Challenge!

For February’s fitness challenge – Complete as many body weight lunges as possible within 1 minute!

Don’t forget to let us know how you get on with the challenge!

No matter whether your condition was caused by a sport, work accident or otherwise, we welcome the chance to serve you.
