Physiotherapy Led Pilates

Stable and Able

Stable and Able offers exercise classes designed by physiotherapists specifically for older adults. The classes consist of low-impact cardiovascular, resistance, balance, and functional exercises that are modifiable for all levels. Benefits include improved mobility, balance, strength, confidence, and cognitive function, as well as social engagement and boosted energy levels. Classes are supervised by a Chartered Physiotherapist and are interactive and enjoyable, using music, objects, and games. Physiotherapy-led exercise programs can also reduce falls by 29%.

Bethany is a Chartered Physiotherapist at Physiotherapy Matters, having graduated from Northumbria University in 2021. With experience in both NHS and private practice, she has treated a wide range of MSK injuries and has a good understanding of multidisciplinary patient care. With a passion for physical activity and exercise, Bethany completed an undergraduate degree in Sport and Exercise Science and is also a qualified personal trainer. She offers an individualized approach to her classes and can adapt and modify exercises to meet the needs of each participant. Bethany emphasizes the importance of improving balance and strength to prevent falls and maintain independence while managing pain and stiffness.

Physiotherapy-led Pilates

Physiotherapy Matters offers physiotherapy-led Pilates to improve core stability, flexibility, and postural awareness. Classes are suitable for those recovering from an injury, experiencing chronic pain, or preventing injury. The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute method is used to address lower back pain, reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries, and improve postural problems. Exercises can be modified to suit ability, and class levels are available for beginners and intermediate-advanced participants.

Kristi is a chartered physiotherapist who is passionate about Pilates. She graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa in 2010 and has extensive experience in addressing musculoskeletal injuries. Kristi discovered her love for Pilates at the age of 20 and has since become an instructor, customizing exercises in 1:1 and group classes. She believes Pilates improves mobility, balance, and strength, reduces pain, and prevents injuries from recurring. Kristi is committed to improving her patients’ posture, overall health, and well-being.

Golf Strength and Conditioning

Physiotherapy Matters offers Golf strength and conditioning classes to improve strength, flexibility, speed, and balance, targeting specific muscle groups used in golf. These classes can reduce the risk of common golf injuries and improve overall game by leading to a consistent swing, increased club head speed, and greater distance. The classes are led by experienced golfer and physiotherapist, Robert Henderson, and are available as a group or on a 1:1 basis. Suitable for golfers at all levels.
