Physiotherapy Matters working in Partnership with Hadrian Healthcare

Physiotherapy Matters have restarted pre COVID Physiotherapy and Wellbeing service for Hadrian Healthcare residents. The service as previously has been very well received by residents, families as well as care staff, for the benefit of all by assessing current abilities and the potential for improvement to support the independence and safety of residents.
Hadrian Healthcare is a premium care home provider based in the Northeast, committed to delivering a contemporary living experience for more than 25 years. With a dedicated team, they strive to offer a ‘Home from Home’ experience, focusing on exceptional care, comfort, independence and quality of life. We have established a partnership where our specialist older people Physiotherapist Bethany, who works with care staff to ensure patients receive the very best advice regarding mobility related issues.
Bethany is an experienced state registered (HCPC-registered), Chartered Physiotherapist (member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) with a background in both hospital inpatient working in the Care of the Elderly department, Trauma and Orthopaedics as well as her more recent work in the private sector. She has a great passion for patient centred care and considers all aspect of an individual’s functional capacity in her approach. She attends both our Whickham and Gosforth homes on alternative weeks to provide the service.
The service focuses on conducting initial physiotherapy and mobility assessments for residents who have recently experienced falls, hospital discharges, new arrivals, and individuals with mobility issues. This service is a valuable addition to the facility, aiming to prevent falls, enhance independence whenever possible, boost mobility, strength, and confidence.
By introducing the service residents benefited from increased confidence and mobility leading to reduced care needs and reliance on care staff, in turn resident independence. This not only boosts resident and staff moral but also enhances contribution to care plans, reduced risks of falls and risks of staff injuries from manual handling.
Recommendations are made by the physiotherapist to residents and their families regarding the advantages of consistent physiotherapy, either through the partnership or by seeking NHS input if necessary. Information is added to resident care plans, so care staff are informed of the residents’ mobility status and any recommendations given.
If any individuals or families would like to explore a course of private Physiotherapy for themselves or a loved one, then please do not hesitate to contact Beth at Physiotherapy Matters for a free 15 mins telephone call to discuss who we can support.
Please also get in touch if you feel your care home or supportive living facility would benefit from a similar value adding services.
