Back Care Awareness Week

October 5, 2017

As part of North of England Protecting & Indemnity Association (North) Back Care Awareness Week, two physiotherapists from Physiotherapy Matter delivered onsite back care awareness sessions.  North is a leading marine liability insurer providing P&I, FD&D, War Risks and ancillary insurance to ship-owners worldwide.

Physiotherapy Matters have three clinics around Newcastle and offer onsite and offsite occupational health physiotherapy services.
Rosie Lynch (Occupational health clinical specialist) delivered a session on the importance of posture and sitting position in the work place.  She also discussed some common back issues and how to prevent back injuries both at work and at home.  Chris Barrett (Business Manager and Senior Physiotherapist) also provided a drop in clinic where employees could attend and gain a better understanding about how to successfully manage their Back Pain. Demand amongst employees was really high, as a result of the popularity, another session is being repeated later on in the week!

It was clear from the session that although many of the employees didn’t feel their performance was being directly affected by pain,  it was clear they were suffering from relatively high levels of pain.  North’s proactive approach is to support employees and encourage a better level of health for its staff.

Overall, the day was a great success, a lot of great questions were asked and we feel confident we have helped to prevent some employees at North to avoid future back injuries.

No matter whether your condition was caused by a sport, work accident or otherwise, we welcome the chance to serve you.
